Objective:

The NAMA will transform the production and use of RAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) appliances for both the domestic and commercial sectors.

Activities: (2016 - 2020)
The NAMA Support Project covers four areas of activity: - production and sale of green refrigeration and air conditioning (GreenRAC) equipment; - servicing and use; - revisions to the policy and financial framework; - raising awareness of benefits and the need for behavioural change.

Nine Thai companies from the air-conditioning, commercial refrigeration and chiller sector have expressed their interest to cooperate with the Thai Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) NAMA on making cooling equipment more climate friendly and energy efficient. The companies will receive support in designing products as well as in changing production processes to introduce cooling products to the market that use climate friendly natural refrigerants. Once the planning of the production line conversion is completed, the RAC NAMA offers financial and further technical support for the conversion of production lines. The companies and public institutions will receive support with the appropriate training of technicians to service the devices that are to be introduced to the market.

Cumulative GHG reductions: No data available
Mitigative capacity:

RAC equipment introduced within the project period will cut emissions by19.4 million tonnes CO2eq over the lifetime of the equipment. This will result in an annual reduction of around two million tonnes by 2020 - i.e. 0.6 per cent of the Thai total GHG compared to ‘business as usual’ (BAU 2020). The equivalent annual reduction by 2030 is 6.4 per cent or 46 million tonnes CO2eq ."RAC equipment introduced within the project period will cut emissions by19.4 million tonnes CO2eq over the lifetime of the equipment.
